The Wash N Style Method

The Wash N Style Method

The Wash N Style method created by Young Wavy is the single most important method for waving. Initially this method was just for allowing wavers to wash their hair and lay it back down, however over the years the method has been used to improve the wave pattern as well.

Here are the basic steps for doing a wash n style:

Step 1: Wet Hair

Step 2: Add Shampoo to your hair

Step 3: Brush your hair (using a wet brush) - approx 5 minutes

Step 4: Rinse your hair

These first 4 steps are known as the prewash, as the main focus is to get the dirt and product out of your hair and scalp. The remaining steps are where you will spend most of your time.

Step 5: Add Shampoo to your hair

Step 6: Brush your hair - approx 15 minutes

Step 7: Put on a wet durag

Step 8: Rinse your hair (with the durag on)

If you are done with your wash n style, proceed to step 9 otherwise you can repeat steps 5-8 as many times as you desire.

Step 9: Let your hair air dry. DO NOT remove your durag until your hair is completely dry. *You can use a towel to pat your head to get the excess water out, but refrain from using blow dryers as heat will make your hair come out brittle*
