What are Forks? How to get rid of them!

Definition:

A fork is a flaw in your wave pattern where a wave splits into two or more waves.

Causes:

They are caused by brushing improper angles, or by changing your brush angles. You will also see forks in the ripple stage of your pattern, as your hairs are untrained in the direction you want them to go. They are not preventable, but they are not permanent.

The Fix:

There is no method or product for breaking forks.

The only way to get rid of forks, is by doing what you did to create them... that is to brush and be patient. Although there isn't a specific method for breaking forks, there are some things you can do to help speed along the process. Here are the steps that you need to follow on your fork-breaking journey:

  • Locate the fork - Where is the trouble area?

  • How did the fork get there? - What did you do to cause this issue? You have to break that habit.

  • How are the waves supposed to connect? You have to envision the way you want your waves to connect. Can't build a house without a blueprint.

  • What are the brush angles needed to align the waves properly?
